Why Choose NDCCNY for Concrete

What Separates Concrete That Lasts

Concrete lasts when the fundamentals are right. It needs a compacted stone base that supports the slab and drains, an air-entrained mix that stands up to freeze-thaw, reinforcement so a hairline crack does not open into a trip hazard, finishing at the right moment, and slow, proper curing to reach full strength. Get those right and Staten Island weather stops being the thing that ruins your concrete.

Excellent work from start to finish. The contractor handled the excavation for the test pit, restored the area with concrete, and cleaned everything up afterward. When I came home, everything was in perfect order. Professional, reliable, and easy to work with.
Professional work, timely and detailed, honest and sincere looking forward to working with NDC again in the very near future.

I highly recommend Adeel and his team! This is the second time I’ve worked with him, and the experience was just as great as the first. They recently put down pavers and created a new carport parking spot in front of my house. The quality of the work is top-notch, and they completed the job quickly and professionally. Adeel is always a pleasure to work with—reliable, professional, and excellent at what he does.

I needed my roof capped. Adel gave me a quote and exceeded my expectations. His crew took their time and followed the design of the building. I have other work and I will work with Adel. I have confidence in giving Adel the highest recommendation possible. He took a dangerous and hard job and made it look easy.

I recently had my driveway redone, which included both pavers and concrete, as well as a planter installation, and I couldn't be happier with the results! In fact, two of my neighbors had followed in my steps and used this contractor for their driveways as well. After interviewing several contractors, I found this one to be the most responsive and reasonable. He not only had a clear vision for my driveway but even presented it alongside an image, which helped me visualize the final outcome.

To my delight, the finished driveway turned out even better than I had anticipated! This contractor is brimming with innovative ideas for enhancing the area he works on, and it was evident that he treated my project and my home as if they were his own. He was always respectful, polite, and kept every promise he made. It was obvious to me that he valued a returning customer and for him keeping a good relationship with a customer even after the job was finished was just as important as gaining a new customer.

Throughout the process, he was consistently available to communicate and always listened to my input. The experience felt like a productive and positive dialogue between myself, the contractor, and his crew. I would not hesitate to work with him again for any future projects. Highly recommend!

Concrete Contractor Staten Island: Common Questions

Concrete Contractor Staten Island: Common Questions

It depends on the type of work, the square footage, the thickness and reinforcement, whether old concrete has to be removed first, and the finish you want. A plain shed slab is a very different number from a stamped patio with drainage work. That is why any honest contractor prices it after seeing the site. We give a free written estimate with the scope spelled out.

Poured concrete is mixed and placed wet on site, so it forms one continuous piece shaped to your space. Precast is made in a factory and set in place, common for things like standard steps. For driveways, patios, sidewalks, and custom slabs, poured concrete on site gives a stronger, one-piece result that fits the actual dimensions of your property.

A residential patio slab is usually 4 inches thick over a compacted stone base. That is plenty for foot traffic and patio furniture. The base matters as much as the thickness, though. A 4-inch slab on solid, well-drained ground outlasts a thicker slab poured on soft fill.

We can get close on a broom finish and blend a repair or extension so it reads as one surface, but a perfect color match to old, weathered concrete is not realistic. New concrete cures lighter and darkens over time. When an exact match matters, a stamped or colored finish across the whole area usually looks better than trying to patch to old gray.

All concrete shrinks a little as it cures, so fine cracking is expected. We control it with cut joints that push cracks into straight, planned lines, plus reinforcement and a good base to prevent the larger structural cracks. Random cracking across the surface is a sign of a base or reinforcement problem, not normal wear.

Yes, with the right precautions. Concrete can be poured in cold weather using accelerated mixes, insulated blankets, and protection so it does not freeze before it sets. We do not pour into frozen ground, and we watch the forecast so a hard freeze does not hit fresh concrete. In deep winter we will sometimes recommend waiting for a better window.

Properly poured and reinforced concrete commonly lasts 25 to 30 years or more in Staten Island’s climate. Concrete that fails early almost always skipped the base prep, the reinforcement, or the right mix, not the concrete itself.

Yes. Most of our work is residential Staten Island homes, but we also pour slabs, walkways, and pads for small commercial and mixed-use properties. If you are not sure whether your project fits, call and describe it.
